Our Practice

Tom Winters, M.D. Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, provides orthopaedic treatment and surgery. We are a dedicated team, entirely focused on getting our patients back to their peak performance and day to day activities. We know that what our patients are going through isn't likely a pleasant experience. In an effort to ease the pain, below you will find many frequently asked questions answered for your convenience.

Patients are seen in the clinic, Monday through Thursday. You should plan to be in the clinic for about an hour. New patients should arrive 15 minutes before their appointment to complete the appropriate paperwork.

We participate in many managed care programs, PPOs, and HMOs. Please check with our office when scheduling an appointment to verify participation in your plan and to allow us time to obtain any required authorization.

Our office participates in Medicare and accepts assignment on all Medicare claims.

Please notify us when you make your appointment if you were injured at work. We will need to obtain authorization prior to treatment.

As a courtesy, we will submit billing for medical or surgical charges to your insurance company. Please furnish our office with current insurance information.

Medication requests are addressed during regular office hours. The doctors will not have patient medical records on hand during evenings and weekends.

While we will file your insurance direct for claims reimbursement, it is probable that certain portions (i.e. co-payments, deductibles, non-covered services, and balance after insurance) will be your responsibility. For your convenience, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express are accepted. Please do not hesitate to call our office with any billing questions you may have.

Medical records are completely private. No information regarding a patient's condition will be given to anyone without the patient's permission and consent. The only exception to this is in cases where disclosure is required by law, such as Worker's Compensation claims.

Please notify us when scheduling your appointment if you were injured as a result of an automobile accident. We will need to obtain authorization prior to treatment.
