Thomas
F. Winters Jr., M.D.
Dr. Winters is an orthopaedic surgeon with an active practice
that focuses on sports medicine.
Dr. Winters
received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, and his
M.D. in 1980 from the University of Connecticut. In addition,
Dr. Winters completed an internship in internal medicine at the
Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, followed by a year of
general surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in
Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Winters' orthopaedic residency was at
the University of Connecticut Health Center in Framington, followed
by an A.O. Fellowship in trauma in Hanover, West Germany. Furthermore,
Dr. Winters completed Fellowships in Sports Medicine and Adult
Reconstructive Surgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital of
Harvard Medical School, where he also served as Assistant Team
Physician for the Department of Athletics of Harvard University.
Dr. Winters
maintains an active interest in research, and is the patent
holder of seven different orthopaedic devices, and was HealthSouth's
Physician of the year in 1991. Dr. Winters has published articles
in a number of journals, and has worked in a freestanding surgery
center setting since the late 1980's and was instrumental in the
start-up of Orlando Center for Outpatient Surgery that is now
owned by HealthSouth. In addition, Dr. Winters
is
the Chairman and CEO of U.S. Medical Group Inc.,
a state-of-the-art mobile surgery facilities servicing the corrections
industry.
